Charles Bridge is one of the most famous and most visited places in Prague. It is a historic bridge that connects Prague Castle with Old town and is one of the oldest bridges over the Vltava River.

The cemetery was founded in the first half of the 15th century. The oldest surviving tombstone dates back to 1439, while the last burial here took place 348 years ago. Over the centuries, the cemetery was expanded several times, but even so, its area was not sufficient for the growing needs of the Jewish Town. The deceased were thus buried in up to ten layers on top of each other, each layer containing additional graves.

There are approximately 12 000 tombstones in the cemetery, many of them displaying interesting animal and plant symbolism. This special ornamental and narrative stone architecture adds a unique and eye-catching character to the cemetery.

The Church of Our Lady before Týn, also known as the Church of the Mother of God before Týn or Týn Church, is located in Prague’s Old Town near Old Town Square.

Its construction began in the mid-14th century and was completed in the first decades of the 16th century. It is one of the most important artistic churches in Prague, both in terms of architecture and preserved interior furnishings. Its famous west facade, which opens towards the square, is one of the most famous landmarks in Prague.

Sandstone was mainly used in the construction of the Týn Church, which was applied in the details and strengthening of the buttresses. The softer opaca was then used as a building stone for the infill walls.

The front part of the church with the portal facing the square is surrounded by a forecourt of two houses, one of which is known as the Týn School.

St Mary’s Church is remarkably ornate and its most striking feature is the two towers with viewing platforms which rise high above the surrounding buildings and give the whole church a striking appearance. Between the towers, on the main gable, is a statue of the Madonna, which gives the whole church its name and is an important element of its decoration. The magnificent portal with its sculptural details is also quite charming.
